will ‘grow’ into a return of £33,000
WOW plans to create a
forest of 10,000 Eucalyptus trees, with the aim of making the project we support in Uganda self-sustainable.
WOW owns 20 acres of land in Uganda, and we have already planted over 3000 trees. Over the next 5 years WOW is planning to plant
a further 1,250 trees on the land every year, until the forest reaches 10,000
trees. For every tree that is harvested,
one will be planted, constantly maintaining the level of 10,000 trees. This
will provide long term sustainability for the project and also help the
environment.
Once harvested, the profits from the sale
of the wood will be invested into the community, to break the cycle of poverty
Eucalyptus trees, as opposed to other
hardwood trees, are fast growing and therefore a renewable resource, rendering them
a highly sustainable and eco-friendly choice.
