Sustainable forest in Uganda

ONE TREE COSTS £1!

This covers the cost of the sapling, the fertilisers and pesticides, and a contribution towards the purchase of additional land when necessary.

100% of your money reaches the project and goes to planting the forest.

We need to raise £1250 per year to plant 1250 trees.

When harvested, the wood from 1000 trees will bring a return of £33,000!

So an investment of £1000 will ‘grow’ into a return of £33,000

WOW plans to create a forest of 10,000 Eucalyptus trees, with the aim of making the project we support in Uganda self-sustainable.

WOW owns 20 acres of land in Uganda, and we have already planted over 3000 trees. Over the next 5 years WOW is planning to plant a further 1,250 trees on the land every year, until the forest reaches 10,000 trees. For every tree that is harvested, one will be planted, constantly maintaining the level of 10,000 trees. This will provide long term sustainability for the project and also help the environment.

Once harvested, the profits from the sale of the wood will be invested into the community, to break the cycle of poverty

Eucalyptus trees, as opposed to other hardwood trees, are fast growing and therefore a renewable resource, rendering them a highly sustainable and eco-friendly choice.

Eucalyptus wood is dense, strong and durable. Experts in this field insist that this wood is extremely hard, possibly tougher than teak. This makes it an excellent choice for furniture, as it is highly durable and weather-resistant.

Uganda has a rapidly growing population which is putting a great deal of stress on the country's forests. This means an increased demand for firewood, and an expanding land settlement, which has an adverse impact on tree coverage. Uganda now experiences one of the highest rates of deforestation in the world. (Source https://onetreeplanted.org)

Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people and absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere.

WOW is helping to create self-sustainability through environmentally friendly solutions, and we are looking for partners to invest and help us to plant a WOW Forest.
